Practice area
The practice area has been carefully delineated and if an existing patient moves outside this area, then in general the patient will be asked to register with a doctor closer to where they live. Patients must not take this as a sign of rejection! We know that there are many excellent practices in Newcastle and that we are not indispensable. There are many reasons to support this policy. While We no longer share an out of hours rota with other doctors working in Jesmond, we feel that there would be a decrease in the quality of medical care the further from the practice a patient lives. The provision of nursing and social care to the home becomes more difficult the further away that the patient lives from the practice. We are flattered by the fact that patients often wish to stay with us when they move out of the area but feel that this is not advisable.
In general we cover the postcodes of NE2, NE3 and some areas of NE6, Most patients live within two miles of the practice. With the problems of access and parking we are not keen to accept patients from NE1.
Access
Access to the practice is either by private transport with limited parking off the main road. Buses 30,31 & 80 stop outside the surgery in both directions and the Metro at West Jesmond is less than five minutes walk away.
