Employment medicals
Run by Doctor by appointment
A number of patients are requested to see their doctor to obtain a medical certificate to start work with a new employer. We are very happy to carry out these examinations but note that often we wear "two hats". One of the patient's doctor but also a representative of the employer. As long as the patient requesting the medical is aware of this conflict of interest, no problems should arise.
Driving Medicals
Elderly patients and those that have had a serious illness are often required to have a medical to assess their fitness to drive. The regulations to which all doctors must adhere are found on the DVLA web site, see below. If you have a medical condition which has become worse since your licence was issued or you develop a new medical condition, you must write and inform the Drivers Medical Unit of the nature of your condition, as it may affect your fitness to drive. Failure to do so is a criminal offence punishable by a fine of up to £1,000.
