Julie joined Empingham Medical Centre in October 2006; prior to this she had worked for the Out of Hours Service and 3 GP Practices in Peterborough. Julie completed her Nurse Practitioner degree and extending Nurse Prescribing at the University of East Anglia in 2002 and completed a post-graduate diploma in First Contact Care in 2007 at Sheffield University. Julie also has Diplomas in Asthma, Diabetes, Ischemic Heart Disease and Heart Failure Management and is Family Planning trained. Specialist Areas: Acute Minor Illness and Chronic Disease Management. |

Empingham Medical Centre has 3 trained Practice Nurses who are fully trained in all aspects of: Wound Care Management, Phlebotomy, Childhood Immunisations, Vaccinations, INR Monitoring (for patients on warfarin medication), Cervical Smear Taking, ECGs, Routine Health Checks, Health Promotion and Lifestyle Advice. Specialist Areas: Debbie Blanchard - Travel Immunisations/Travel Health, COPD Spirometry

Health Care Assistants | |||||||

Empingham Medical Centre has 1 Health Care Assistant who is fully trained in Phlebotomy, Blood Pressure Monitoring, ECGs, Audiograms (Hearing Tests) and New Patient Health Checks. The Health Care Assistant currently works 5 mornings a week from 8.40am-11.30am and Monday and Thursday afternoons 2.30pm-4.10pm.

Community Nurses | |

The Community Nurse team provides an essential service to the surgery's housebound patients. They work closely with the Doctors and the Practice Nurses. Members of the Community Nurse team specialise in certain areas such as leg ulcers/wound care, health promotion, preventive medicine and palliative care. |
