Beacon Awards
What is a Beacon Award?
The Beacon Awards are the NHS Oscars. This scheme has been created by the government to highlight excellence within the NHS. The Beacon organisations have a responsibility to share their experience with others, to spread good practice and innovation, which in turn will improve the care we provide to our patients.
'Beacons are making a real contribution to building the faster, fairer, more convenient health service we want to see. They are essential to driving up standards so patients know they can get the very best standard of care, wherever they live'
'comparing performance, measuring success and sharing best practice are vital to developing modern health services. The Beacon programme offers a very practical way of developing and sharing good practice within the NHS'
As you may imagine we were thrilled to be one of the first Beacons. There were only 290 across the country in primary care and hospital practice. We were very pleased to be one of only two practices in Suffolk to receive a Beacon award.
