Prescriptions

You should anticipate the need for repeat prescriptions in advance and re-order allowing the appropriate time for the prescription to be processed. While we will always try to handle genuine exceptional request, it must be appreciated that any abuse of the system causes delays for those patients who have submitted requests in the correct way.

On the right side of the prescription is a record of the items that may be re-ordered. You should tear off and keep this record until you need to re-order, clearly ticking which items are required and post it to the surgery. If the medicine you request is not on the computer slip, you may need to see your doctor before the prescription can be issued, in which case you will be informed.

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered in the following ways

  • Fill in the information on the right hand side of your repeat slip and drop it in to any of our surgeries or local pharmacies.
  • Call in to a surgery and fill in a white sheet

Repeat prescriptions online

You can now order your repeat prescription online from this website. Click here to go to the online repeat prescription order service. (Smallbrook patients please go to Smallbrook section for prescription information)

Prescriptions are generally available within 3 working days - 4 if requesting via a pharmacy

Prescription Requests

Please do not use this service for prescriptions that are not on regular repeat.
For instance, even though you might have had a number of prescriptions for urinary infections in the past, it is unlikely that an antibiotic is on a repeat prescription and contact with your usual doctor would be necessary before a prescription would be available.

If you have recently had your medication changed at a hospital visit, your records may not have been updated as a letter takes time to arrive at the surgery so contact with your GPs secretary would be needed to confirm that the new medication has been added to your list (and just as important that the old medicine deleted if appropriate).

Prescription collection points

We have a facility where our local chemists are willing to pick up an ordered prescription and have it made up ready for the patient to collect directly from the pharmacy. Please let the script department know if you would like your nominated chemist to do this. You will also have to contact the chemist directly to request this service as they are unable to do so without your authorisation.
