Jetlag

Jet lag is the feeling of disorientation experienced if you are flying across time zones. Your body may take days, or even weeks to adjust to the new day and night cycle.

Symptoms

  • Fatigue and general tiredness
  • Loss of concentration
  • Fuzziness
  • Broken sleep after arrival
  • Dehydration
  • Discomfort of legs and feet

Prevention

  • Get a good night's sleep the before flying
  • Try to include stop-overs in your travel plans.
  • Drink plenty of fluids during the flight, but avoid alcohol, coffee and fizzy drinks.
  • After take-off, set your watch to the time of your destination and eat, drink and sleep according to the new time.
  • Get as much exercise as you can, for instance, walking up and down the aisle
