Patient Access - book an appointment with your GP on-line

Patients now have the option to book an appointment with their own GP on-line via 'Patient Access' which integrates fully with our clinical computer system. This system also enables patients to order repeat prescriptions on-line.

To use Patient Access patients must register for this service. Please email post.master@nhs.net and a registration form will be posted to your home address. Alternatively, you may come into the practice in person and collect a registration form. To fully complete registration for this service you will need to attend the surgery with photo ID and 1 utility bill (less than 3 months old).

Once you have registered, this service can be accessed via the Patient UK website

DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS

If you have a new problem you can telephone for an appointment on 01986 892055, come to the Reception desk, or book via the internet (see section above re Patient Access). Routine doctor appointments are booked one working day in advance (Friday for Monday), or up to 6 weeks ahead (subject to availability). This will be with the doctor of your choice if they are available. Routine appointments are ten minutes. You can book a telephone consultation with the doctor if you prefer.

Routine appointments for follow-up will be booked by your doctor during your consultation, up to 2 weeks ahead.

A limited number of appointments are reserved each day for urgent problems only (you may see a Senior Nurse in the first instance to assess the problem). If your problem is relatively minor (e.g. coughs/colds, sore throats, ear infections, eye infections, nose bleeds, tummy ache, etc) you will be given an appointment with a Senior Nurse. The Nurse has access to a doctor during the clinic if a patient needs to be referred on.

Extended Hours

Patients may now book appointments during the following times:

Mondays - Routine appointments from 7.00 am - 8.00 am
Thursdays - Routine appointments from 6.50 pm - 8.20 pm

Please note that there is limited availability for these appointments

Golden rules for appointments

If you decide that your appointment is no longer needed, please ring up and cancel so that someone else can have the appointment instead.

Does more than one family member need to see the doctor? If so, please make a separate appointment for each person.

If you have several different problems to discuss, you may be asked to come back as your appointment time is only 10 minutes.
