Chiropody

NHS Chiropody/Podiatry

The local NHS chiropody/podiatry service is based at the Northgate Hospital in Great Yarmouth (Tel: 01493 334110). Patients can be referred by their doctor, or they can self-refer using the necessary application form available from the surgery. The nearest clinics are in Beccles and Halesworth. Patients are put on a waiting list after the urgency of the referral has been assessed. High risk patients, e.g. diabetics, are usually seen fairly soon.

Private Chiropody/Podiatry

For patients who want to be seen more quickly, the services of a private Chiropodist/Podiatrist (Mr James Anderson) are available at the Bungay surgery.

James Anderson graduated from the Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh in 1995 with a BSc in Podiatry with Distinction. He spent the next 5 years working as a Senior Podiatrist in the NHS. On moving to Bungay in 2000 he commenced private practice. He is a State Registered Chiropodist and is trained to diagnose and treat foot problems. He is also qualified to administer local anaesthetics and undertake minor surgery on skin and nail problems - these procedures are normally performed at the surgery.
