Community & Practice Nurses

Community Nursing

A team of community nurses is attached to the practice. They support and care for patients of any age in their own home during illness and disability, or after early discharge from hospital. They also run clinics here at the surgery where they undertake dressings, some specialised injections. They are proficient in the treatment of leg ulcers and work closely with the doctors, social services and hospitals as well as advising and supporting carers.

Practice Nursing

The practice nurses undertake a full range of services including:

  • Asthma clinic
  • Coronary Heart Disease clinic
  • Emphysema (COPD) clinic
  • Diabetes clinic
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Emergency contraception and pill checks
  • Immunisations
  • Travel Advice and Immunisation
  • Well Person screening
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Weight Control
  • Minor Illness Assessment
  • Minor Injury treatment
  • Triage

Please give as much information to the Receptionist regarding your appointment so that she is able to select the appropriate member of the nursing team. Appointments with the Practice Nurse may be booked up to 4-6 weeks in advance
