Training Practice

As part of the practice ethos of helping produce high quality doctors for the future, Cheviot Medical Group has a strong belief in providing teaching and training opportunities.

We frequently have medical students and other learners attached to the practice. They will always see patients in conjunction with qualified health professionals. Many patients enjoy helping with medical and healthcare education in this way; the learners gain a lot from it and give excellent feedback to the practice and University. Reception will always advise you if a learner may be present during your consultation. It is not a problem if you do not wish them to be presentójust let us know.

Cheviot Medical Group also regularly has a General Practice Speciality Training Registrar attached to the practice. These are fully qualified doctors, often with three years or more experience of waiting as hospital doctors plus previous General Practice, completing their specialist training in General Practice.

To be a Specialist Training Practice (previously called Vocational Training) the practice and the doctors concerned have to undergo stringent selection and regular accreditation procedures to ensure that both the clinical quality and teaching and training ability of the practice are to a very high standard.
