The Wessex GP Educational Trust (WGPET) was formed in 1990 to provide funding for educational events run by GP Tutors. It continues to fund a wide range of events from one hour lectures to week-long refresher courses throughout the Wessex Deanery.
It receives no public money but is funded from the subscriptions paid by its members.
The majority of GPs in the area it covers are members. As at 31st March 2011 it had 1,676 members.
After paying a subscription members can without charge attend as many mainstream events underwritten by the Trust as they wish. A list of events planned for the Spring 2012 term and beyond across nine postgraduate centres can be found on the "Courses" and "Ongoing Activities" pages.
The Trust will also subsidise the cost of attending RCGP Wessex Faculty meetings considerably reducing their charges.
The next membership year starts on 1st April 2012 and GPs interested in joining should contact the Trust Administrator. Membership is still available for the current membership year and GPs who are NEW to the Trust can join for the remaining months at a reduced price.
