The Wessex GP Educational Trust (WGPET) was formed in 1990 to provide funding for educational events run by GP Tutors. It continues to fund a wide range of events from one hour lectures to week-long refresher courses throughout the Wessex Deanery.
It receives no public money but is funded from the subscriptions paid by its members.
The majority of GPs in the area it covers are members. As at 1st March 2013 it had 1,643 members.
After paying a subscription members can without charge attend as many mainstream events underwritten by the Trust as they wish. A list of events planned for the Summer 2013 term and beyond across nine postgraduate centres can be found on the "Courses" and "Ongoing Activities" pages.
The Trust will also subsidise the cost of attending RCGP Wessex Faculty meetings considerably reducing their charges.
